March... supposedly our snowiest month in Colorado. It did snow today but the big fluffy flakes melted as they hit the ground. The day began warm enough , 49/50 * but by lunch it had begun to snow. Tomorrow it is suppose to be close to 60*, can you believe it? 60* That's Colorado for you.
St Patrick's day is usually the day for us to plant or get ready to plant our peas, spinach and lettuces. I am beginning to get excited about it . We will need to get the pen area of the hen house extended and round up the girls. I am not sure how they are going to like that. They are used to chasing each other and talking about the neighbors and school kids as they walk by. Hmm we will have to wait and see. I want to move the strawberries and need to start a new compost pile since the chicken demolished the old one. Here is a picture of the new chicks and their home, a converted rabbit hutch. They won't even begin to go outside until they are 5 months old and only for 1/2 day at that.
I will have to watch this little chick. She seems to like to sleep with her head out of the bars.
