Group NameLearning To Be Local Minded When Shopping
DescriptionIt's occured to me to start talking about what buying local means to me. Doing this, I suspect, will help me create and keep better buying habits.
For a few years now I've been focusing my efforts on becoming a more natural person who learns to grow my food, to cook homemade foods, to shop locally, to recycle, to be more craft minded in my daily life...and much, much more. Back then, when I really put forth the effort to be more of the person in daily life I wanted to be, though the task seemed so daunting, it was also very exciting because I looked forward to actually learning to become the person I knew I could be. I come from a family that ate captain crunch in front of saturday morning cartoons, we ate hot dogs and threw away everything just to name a very few things I would never do now...to me, it just seemed natural to be wasteful in the way i spent my time and in the way I thought about life in general. Looking back it all seems so disrepectful now.
It's been a really interesting past two years, even though sometimes I cared less than I should have and would back slide...I always seem to come back and keep learning to do thing more naturally. And of course, the things I've learned are simply incredible, even though I know so little yet. I took time to reflect today on just how different/better my life is because I actually made the choice to me more self sustaining and natural in my daily life and I'm in awe at it all.
This group is for stories about where we choose to shop, how we sometimes go out of our way to buy local, how we may sometimes go without because the local folks haven't got what we need yet and well, this group is for our stories in general, about learning to be or just being, a more natural minded person. Maybe you have a story you wish to tell.
