I belong to one of the groups based on locale and it would appear that the person who started it (and thus became the leader) is no longer a member of Freedom Gardens. What happens in that case?
The reason I ask: a couple of anonymous posts with spam links were recently placed there, and when I tried to email the leader to warn her, I discovered she no longer exists. With no leader, I can't take down the spam posting.
Because of this problem, it is my opinion that groups should default to 'no anonymous posts', rather than the more dangerous current default of 'anyone can post'. Probably some group leaders don't even know you can edit this setting, or why they should.
Another question regarding leadership: I can change the settings of my group to have others become the leader, or become officers, but if I create officers, do they get promoted to leader if I were to vacate the position? Or if I promote someone in the group to leader, am I still one of the leaders, or is there only one leader? The reason I ask is, I might like to go on vacation, and in the couple of weeks that I'm gone, I would not necessarily be able to respond to emails or spammers -- it might be beneficial to have another leader who could do this in my absence. On the other hand, when I get back, I would still like to be notified by email if someone posts or responds in the group I lead -- if I've given away the leadership, how do I get it back? Or does the site allow more than one leader per group?
Actually, that's lots of questions.

I read your topic post and I have one reoccuring thought, maybe you should just start your own web sight, one particular place would be:
https://www.blogger.com/start
I have three separate blogs started there and I've readon some terrific blogs from other folks. You might check it out for yourself and see if it's something you'd like to do. I love freedom gardens, but there's some issues with the group. Some others whom I'm friends with have made comment that they're moving to another blog site because it's just too much of a pain in the butt. I'll be staying, of course, but as well, do other stuff, too. Check out the blog site, it's not bad.
Take care~

Sure there are issues with the Freedom Gardens site, but I feel its too soon to abandon her. I'm here because I'm inspired by what the Dervaes family have done in their own backyard, and I would like to see it replicated across the nation, around the world. I see no lasting way forward for the world's human population unless we reconnect to what we eat.
I don't know if this web site is the only way to support that, or even if my thoughts and comments are making a difference to anyone else, but it is what I have to give. If I blog elsewhere I contribute nothing to what originally inspired me to act.
My hope is that others won't read this tech Q&A forum as me complaining. I'd like to have the tiny leaks fixed, not abandon ship.

I think that your idea to email the group leader was more politic. Sometimes personal issues can crop up that sideline even the most dedicated group leaders.

Agreed. Sorry to assume and relate that the leader no longer exists.
This forum post was after I had tried once and failed to email -- for some reason -- the second attempt was successful.
But the question still persists: where does an email go if a person (especially a group leader) has (permanently) dropped away from the site, for whatever reason?
