summer pruning?

So here's my story, I moved into a house that had an established "orchard" here in So California. The first year, we moved in Mid July and didn't do much except keep them watered. This past March, I took a pruning workshop from a local wholesale nurseryman. As a result I cut back most of my trees "at the knees" knowing we wouldn't get many, if any, fruit. The question is, now that the trees have practically grown back to the size they were, is now the time to give them another trimming? I seem to remember that is what I do, just checking. Thanks, Una PS The trees in question are a sweet cherry, plum, grape plum, nectarine and apricot all of which did not fruit. Some fruited but dropped their fruit. Oh and should I also fertilize? |
